I got the opportunity to watch some French television in a hotel the other night (after being stranded in a little place and going nowhere). I basically watched the music channel alot and strangely they showed some old Dragon Ball cartoons on it too. Not even Dragon Ball Z. The original one with the really bad animation. Anyway, there was a few songs I really enjoyed and thought I´d share them.

Martin Solveig – Boys and Girls – I dunno if this one is out in England too, but it´s like a better version of Calven Harris´s stuff.

Psy 4 De La Rime – On Sait Mais on Fait – This is a french rap group, I dunno what the lyric mean but the beat is good and the video is exceptional.

113 feat Jamel Debbouze – Celebration No one else will probably lke this one. It´s a rap group again, with what I think is a famous French comedian. I enjoyed it anyway, and it´s very popular there.

Monkey by Low. This is a fantastically dramatic sounding song. First heard it on the start of Killshot. I love to see songs used really well in cinema and television, and this is a really good example.

Another fine example is the end of Six Feet Under, (song starts at 3:30 into the video). Although, that probably doesn’t resonate well unless you’ve seen the rest of the series.

I got Depeche Mode’s new album “Sound’s of the Universe” about a week ago now, and it’s awesome. Combining the feel of “Playing the Angel” with the sound of their older stuff like “Ultra” and “Some Great Reward”. I love it, especially Hole to Feed

The Prodigy also have a new album out, Invaders Must Die. It’s amazing, frankly I wasn’t too into their previous one “Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned”, but this new one is fantastic. They’ve managed to keep the old Prodigy style (even going so far as to reuse some of their old samples) while still keeping it fresh and new. It’s hardcore enough to keep the dedicated fans happy while making it more accessible to newer listeners. I’m sure that wasn’t Liam Howlett’s intention though, he probably just wanted to write this fucking tune, man.

The “Yeah Yeah Yeahs” new album rocks the shit out of anything else I’ve heard lately, it’s more poppy than their previous two while still being distinctly them. Everyone should give it a listen.

Die Toten Hosen – Hier Kommt Alex
Even better, the Unplugged version.
The Mad Capsule Markets – Gaga Life
Arctic Mokeys – Leave Before the Lights Come On
